So, sex.

Who wants more of it? Who wants less of it? Who isn't having it AT ALL? And if you're not having it, WHY NOT?

Who's having it ALL THE TIME? Is there a secret?

And no, I'm not offering myself up (sorry, Toby). Space makes a man curious!

Piper & Veronica's apartment, Thursday Afternoon
Piper didn't have to be at work for a few hours, so she was in her room, packing for her weekend trip to DC to visit Veronica.

She was so looking forward to her long weekend not having to deal with customers at the restaurant.

Second Floor Common Room [Thursday Evening]
Ned decided to cook.

After realizing he hadn't cooked anything but a can of soup (take out dinners were so much easier) in the last few weeks, he decided to rectify with a new take on a pie he'd made in the past.

So, there were supplies and ingredients and a guy in a flour stained blue apron moving about the common room.

[Open, yep! He'll share!]

Ami opened the store not at all late and sat down behind the counter. She looked at the letter her mother had sent. Mother was going back to Japan in October, and did Ami want to go back to her old school?

It was a tough decision, and Ami was not at all sure yet.

Caritas [Thursday evening]
So, no, she didn't exactly know why she was talking like a pirate today. She didn't really care, figuring it had to do with the whole thing where the taps had produced rum, and an orange had fallen on her head, and the sexy pirate-wear she'd gotten stuck with on Monday.

So, really, she didn't know why she was talking like this. But it worked for her.

Besides, she got to call Tino a scurvy-infested parrot, and that made any day better in her book.

Luckily, the nurses were unaffected by the piratical nonsense drifting about the island, and had taken over the morning shift.

Igor didn't turn up until evening. Mostly because he'd been trying to figure out if it was his tongue that was causing the odd speech.

By taking it out and running tests on it.

Fugdom, omg
So, many of us go read Go Fug Yourself, right? (If you don't, you should.) And it came up the other day -- what would the Fug Girls say about your character? Would they approve of what they generally wear? Does your character, most times, look sleek and put together, and wear attractive things that actually fit? Or do they dress like the infamous Phoebe Price, or just make terrible, terrible choices about their hair and makeup?

So here's your chance to wax poetic about your character's fashion sense. Is is good? Is it bad? Would you be ashamed to be seen in public with them? You don't have to actually talk like a Fug Girl, don't worry, because omg, I could never be that funny. But lucky me, I don't have to, since they fugged poor Robin back in December.

This is not, note, how your character's actor dresses -- that's a whole other meme, and I'll be keeping an eye on [info]sith_happened when that happens because damn if Hayden doesn't love his trucker hats. No, just tell us about how well-groomed your character is, and how you feel about their fashion sense.

(omg finally I have used this icon appropriately.)

The Grounds near the Stables, Thursday Early-to-Mid Morning
Ino who mun nearly forgot zomg *facepalms* wasn’t in the best of moods, and was planning on ditching Liir later but all the same she’d promised Principal Winchester that she’d show her the garden today, and so was outside.

It was hard, at least, to be entirely brooding when she could kneel down and make sure her flowers were doing well. If nothing else, she had this. And her flowers didn’t care if she smiled or not. She loved them no matter what the expression on her face was, and they knew it through her touch.

She closed her eyes and smiled slightly. Then got up and went to look for daisies. She’d promised Grace a daisy chain, after all.

[For Zoe, please! And honestly, I swear, I’ve got the memory of a sieve some days. Ugh. *fiddles with the time, yeah*]

Childhood Games, Class #3, Thursday period 1
"Arrr, hi, guys, shiver me timbers!" Lily greeted the class as they came in. "Sorry about the speech, I'm jus' like this today. I'm learnin' not t' ask. So anyway, today we're goin' t' be usin' somethin' called jump rope.

"Aye, they're easy. Mostly. You just hold both ends like so," she said, gripping the ends of a jump rope in both hands to demonstrate, and swinging the rope up so she could hop over it, "Arrr, and jump o'er it. Pretty self-explanatory. You can get tripped up, though, especially when you start goin' faster. Just please don't trip yourself int' a clinic 'isit. Tis' good exercise, too. You can do this either by yourself, or you can tie an end t' a tree an' work with one other person, or you can have two people hold a side and jump between them. Arrr.

"Arrr, and if you're verily darin', thar be rhymes you can say while jumpin', just for an added bit o' fun. Ye'll ne'er get me buried booty!" Frowning at herself because she had no idea where that part came from, she tried to ignore it by passing out the handouts and giving them a second to look it over. "Aye, any questions? Okay, go ahead and pair up, or you can go by yourself. My parrot concurs." If she looked confused, it was because she didn't have a parrot.

Office Hours, Thursday 7/24
Frowning, Murdock glanced around at his office from the doorway. It was rather bland, boring and didn't reflect him at all. He really needed to do something about that.

After a quick handwaved run back to the house, Murdock returned and slapped a small poster on his office door.

"'Ere's a start," he grinned.

He then settled in behind the desk, and began drawing up a list of other things his office needed.

This could be terrifying interesting.

(OOC: Poster will remain on door from here on out. And Murdock's going to be redecorating his office over the next few days/weeks. Be afraid. Very afraid. MWHAHAHHAHA! *ahem* door and post both open!)

the roof - early afternoon - 7/24
Liir had made his way up to the roof earlier broom in hand, sandwiches and cookies packed in his bag, glad that he'd get to spend time with Ino today. Things had ended oddly yesterday at the cafe and he'd hoped that with a little distance from matters, they should have been able to discuss what had happened. Why it'd happened.

At this point, however, Liir was pretty damn sure that Ino wasn't coming. And while one part of him was glad he wouldn't be doing any extensive flying today, the rest of him curled up with his arms around his knees in his spot on the roof and decided that it hated everything.

Maybe she had the right of it, he actually thought, body and soul too tired to even be incredulous at himself.

Escape Artistry: Week 3, Period 3 (Thurs. 07/24)
The Danger Shop was set up like the Salle. The main difference was the giant Satedan in the center of the room, going through a complicated practice routine with a bokutō blade. When they arrived, he stopped and approached the group with a feral smile, spinning the wooden sword in his hand as he spoke.

"Today we're sword fighting. If it's your first fight, there's a handout for you. First thing to know about sword fighting: keep your eyes straight ahead. Focus on the enemy. Never ever look away from your enemy. It shows weakness. Are you weak?" He stared down a couple students in particular as he paced the floor in front of them all. "Second thing: You’ve gotta anticipate the enemy's next move. Always be ready. I'll give you a minute to look at the papers." Ronon stepped away, preparing to instruct them on how this was going to go down.

Teacher's Lounge [Thursday Morning, July 24]
Tyler Stutterin' Ron Slaughter walked into the lounge hesitantly, as if he half expected it to sense him as a student and eject him with a loud blare of sirens, possibly stripping him down to his underpants in the process.

Instead he found ... a lounge. Perfectly normal, even nice, with the only off note being the Madrox dartboard -- and that was less an off note than a bit of comic relief. He filled a mug to the brim from the coffee pot ("Aye, they need t'order more o' th'filters," he noted to himself) and settled into a chair, wondering if anyone else would come in.

Weirdly, "Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum" kept going through his head.

Second floor common room, Thursday morning
Laura the genet was hungry, and so Gladys took her down to the hall to find her some breakfast. Laura trotted next to her, and bounced into the common room, heading for the fridge.

"Ahoy, If I Get You Breakfast You Have T' Beha'e. Gar."

Gladys stopped.

The genet stopped. And it stared at her, head tilted in confusion.

"Aye. I Have No Idea Why I Be Talkin' Like This. Thar Seems T' Be Somethin' Wrong With Me. Gar."

Laura dashed across the room and hid under the couch, peeking out at Gladys.

"Ar. I Do Not Think That This Be Normal." She paused. "And Ye'll Ne'er Get Me Buried Booty." This was very odd. As was her sudden urge to call herself Cap'n Jan Bloodbucket. "Ar."

Wellspring Arms & Meditation Center, Thursday
It was Thursday, and hence Cable's time to man the store. He had a map called up on his laptop, occasionally zooming in on various locations; a computer program ran quietly in the back, his pet attempt at trying to figure out where the next jump would take them.

Mostly, Cable was interested in what he could do here, now, before the island left again. While the Open sign rested on the door as it always did, he focused on the computer, occasionally reaching down to pat Tether on the head.

Arrr, random piratical e'ent: Talk like a pirate, gar!
Yes, today is that day. Talk like a pirate day.

But not Talk Like A Pirate Day, which is on a different day entirely.

This is just a day for talking like a pirate, unofficially, and isn't in any way associated with Talk Like A Pirate Day. That's in September. It's still only July.

Umm, where was I? Right. Sorry. Today's piratical random event is that the people of Fandom will be sore afflicted with a speech problem: namely, they talk like pirates!

In order to make this easier: Look! Translator!

Also, if people wanted to adopt pirate names to go with their pirate speech: Ta da!

I think today's Fandom Weirdness would extend to people being struck with the sudden desire to adopt piratical monikers and introduce themselves as same.

...Liir was having second thoughts.

It not that the idea wasn't terribly attractive, of course. Kevin: also terribly attractive. But when he laid on his bed and considered the look on Andrew's face, or the disappointment on Karal's (and he knew there'd be disappointment, or he feared it enough that the difference was negligible) it seemed as if every kind word on his progress and everything he'd done or said to try and differentiate himself from the tyrannical Wicked Bitch of the West was a load of monkey doings. What he was planning on doing tonight was purely hedonistic, entirely selfish, and completely without concern for either Andrew or Kevin's previously significant other.

You could have gone to see Trism. You know, at least, that he actually cares for you. It's more than just messing about.

After the gym, visiting Rodney, and class, John's day had been relatively full. He was sitting on his sofa, tapping the glass of his fish tank, trying to decide if Frankenstein Bubbles McAwesome (as that was what the fish was named in his mind) was turning funny colors or if it was just him.

"What do you think, Yoda?" he queried the turtle as if he expected a response. Yoda stretched his neck and crawled behind the orange John had stuck in his tank. "Yeah, he's probably in for it."

John contemplated taking a stroll down to town. The bar was always a good choice when life was messy. He needed to keep his arms moving to stave off soreness, after all. What better way than raising a glass to his lips every minute or so?

Susan really had no idea where the citrus was all coming from. That wasn't to say she was the slightest bit against it -- she remembered the memory of rationing was too fresh for her to turn her nose up at any sort of fresh fruit.

Which was why there was a small collection of tangerines, oranges, limes, lemons and grapefruit accumulating on her bed, after she'd found them over the course of the day while reorganizing her side of the room.

Susan, meanwhile, was working on a letter to Lucy, having put aside the more difficult task of writing to her older brother until later. She'd moved her horn from under the bed up to sit beside her on it, for the time being, though she was toying with the idea of just carrying it with her from now on. There wouldn't be any sense in having it if it wasn't accessible.

The door, in any instance, was open.

The salle, Wednesday early afternoon
Jaina had been here most of the morning. She'd set up as many remotes as she could find, and maybe she'd build more later, but for now she was focusing on lightsaber drills. She knew that till the Myrkr was mission was over, it'd mean less time in the flight shed, and more here and in the gym. Possibly the shooting range, too. At least no one could say she wasn't taking this seriously.

She was going to be sore later from all the shots she was taking, but that was okay. If she could figure out where her weaknesses were, she could improve on them. By this point, she was learning not to react too much when she did get hit, working through it every time so that she could deflect the next bolt.

Jaina knew she'd have to stop soon, but she'd been doing it this long, what was another ten minutes? Ignore that she'd been saying that for about an hour now.

There's something to be said about Fandom. Yesterday was the rum instead of water and today was citrus fruit everywhere.

This of course meant that today Jamie was mixing up what was probably a lethal yet tasty concoction of fruit and rum as he poked around on the internet looking for something to pass the time.

That is until an instant messaging window popped up: )

Jamie stared at the screen for another moment or two before going back to the stash of rum he gathered yesterday.

Clearly this called for another drink.

Town OCD!
So I don't know how many people remember this post, but this is basically what we're doing. I put up a thread for a business, you go ahead and comment with what you've modded there/what you think it would have, and then I go ahead and write up a description to stick up on the Wiki, like so.

Be as descriptive as you like. All I ask is that you keep things reasonable, don't give Fast Eddie's stripper poles or anything. And while anyone can comment, if a business owner says "Um no we don't have that", that trumps. Also, if anyone wants to write up a full description, let me tell you how much I won't argue with you doing that. Just let me know in the comments, or drop it straight in there.

And yes, I'm totally using Jaina's account for this rather than D'Argo's because there's a LOT of OCD and I don't wanna get sick of icons.

[Plz to be waiting for massive OCD. Have at it!]

Preserve - Right after Aly's class
There were explosions in the preserve so, of course, Roy had to check it out. It was his job to. Considering the noise, it wasn't so hard to find the site of the action and no, Roy really wasn't surprised to see who was behind it all.

Shaking his head he stayed clear, not wanting to interrupt the class or distract Aly when she was watching over students using live explosives. When the students had filed out, Roy finally approached the culprit.

"Should have known it was you," he shook his head sadly.

((For the teacher.))

How to Blow Things Up: Week 3, Period 5
Today the class wasn't meeting in the Danger Shop.  Following the directions in the note handwavily delivered, the students would find themselves in a clearing with sandbag 'bunkers' at one end facing a large pile of stones and twisted metal.  On the other end, several rows of different types of grenades were laid out carefully.  Aly stood in the middle, trying not to be nervous over her students' first experience in class with live explosives.  She was mostly failing, but the nerves weren't showing through to her students as anything other than a bit of tenseness.

Once everyone was assembled, she spoke up.  "Morning, everybody.  As I hope you've noticed by now, we're not in the Danger Shop.  Which means that the grenades over there are live.  Today is so not the day to fool around or be in less than your absolute top form or you'll be lucky if detention is the least you get."

Confident she had everyone's attention, she nodded.  "This is going to be fun.  Those of you who haven't handled live rounds before, don't be nervous, just be very careful.  You'll be fine."  She gave a short and thorough lecture the development and uses of different types of grenades before going on to the proper procedures for arming and throwing the weapons.

"No explosive we try is going to be the best possible choice in every situation," she said, wrapping up.   "For grenades, the delay between pulling the pin and the explosion means you can throw it, but the enemy could throw it back at you or it could bounce off a wall and roll back towards one of your allies.  So what I want you to do today before trying them for yourself is discuss with a partner or two the tactical advantages of grenades.  Why use them and not a Molotov cocktail that can't come back at you?  Or a gun which has a longer range?  Or would you use them at all except as a last resort?"

"After that, come over and try them out for yourself."

Aly had positioned herself so only one person at a time could approach the bunker with its firing position.  No need to for more chaos to impinge on some of the students.

[OOC:  Things go boom!  Aly's completely serious about the penalties for horsing around in this class.  If you want to get detention ping in the OOC thread, otherwise I'll give you a heads up if your character is skirting the line.  Please wait for OCD!  And this always was in the right comm.  Yes.]

The Apartment Above Wellspring Arms, Wednesday Evening
The movie (Casualties of War Victims of Conflict) wasn't an issue. Nate had made sure of that. Neither was the beer-- he'd managed to scrounge some up on his latest trip off the island (there had been an old lady who'd been grateful about-- it was a long story).

No, the problem laid in the pizza.

As he waited for Wade to show up, Nate exchanged glances with Tether, then set to removing slices of grapefruit from the pizza.

It didn't seem to help the general citrus issue.

Liir was rather perplexed by all the citrus fruits.

For one, they tasted like actual citrus fruits. That had been his first test, the first thing he'd tried. It had also been a very good breakfast.

Then he'd tried to figure out when he might have picked up enough information to make other citrus fruits. Because it wasn't as if it was out of the realm for him to do magic while not meaning to. He'd done it while asleep before.

As it was, though, he just decided not to think too much about it and made sure to use today's bounty towards some delicious food.

FTEC, Wednesday, July 23
When Doogie came in for his shift, he was surprised to find a pyramid of limes on the main desk, but didn't give it much thought. But as he went through the exam rooms for a regular inventory check and found more and more limes tucked away in every corner, he realized the NPC nurse on before him might have had more time on her hands than she'd known what to do with. Gathering the extra limes up, Doogie went back to the desk to see if he could make an even bigger pyramid with his time.

Merc'ing 101: How to Make it as a Mercenary and Still Stay in One Piece, Wed 7/23
"Mercenaries ain't anything new." Once again, Murdock was strolling around the Danger Shop. Seemed he could hardly ever keep still. "It used to be you could hire whole troops of 'em. That's not so much the case nowdays, at least here on Earth. Or in my version of Earth anyway. Don't know about the rest of y'alls."

"According to ol' Mr. Webster, a mercenary is one who is hired; a soldier who is hired into foreign service. Let's look at that 'foreign service' bit. Back in the old days, people in power would hire mercenaries when they were low on troops. Like a Lord or a Baron, sometimes even Kings. A lot of times, mercenaries were hired so the so that the locals, who were often the farmers of the Lord's holdings, wouldn't be forced into serving. That way they could keep their lands running while they waged battle elsewhere."

"Most of these merc troops, or companies as they were often referred to, operated just like a military unit. One overall leader, several sub-commanders and the grunts. So for today's class we're all going to be part of a merc company." He started up the Danger Shop, which turned into a peaceful, rolling countryside. But it wouldn't stay peaceful for long. "Welcome to The White Company."

(some discussion bits in the OCD, as usual. please wait for the OCD up!)
